Consignment for Authors

Stock Your Book at A Novel Romance

A Novel Romance Consignment Policy

If you are a romance author who'd like to see your book(s) on our shelves, we now offer a consignment program!

Some criteria we require for books on consignment:
1. The book must be written and marketed as a romance and adhere to basic criteria of the genre.
2. The book should be professionally bound, and designed with the title and author on the spine.
3. It should be priced comparably to similar titles and formats.
4. It should have an ISBN-13.

Priority will be given to local authors, subgenres that sell well in our store, and titles that fill gaps in our inventory. We will also pass on any titles that promote or romanticize content that is contrary to A Novel Romance's core values.

If your book meets our criteria and you would like us to consider stocking your book, please send us an email at consignment@anovelromance.com with the following information:

1. Your Name
2. The title, ISBN, and format of the book, as well as a brief summary.
3. Images of the front, back, and spine of the book
4. A link to your website and social media pages
5. A sample of your book. Full books are fine, as well, and are a good option if you want to give our booksellers a head start on being able to handsell the title!

If we choose to consign your book(s), we will send you a consignment agreement to sign and return. By signing the agreement, you will be agreeing to the following:

1. Consignment terms are 60/40. Any title we sell, we will payout 60% of the retail price to you.
2. Consignment lasts for one quarter. The author will provide five copies at start of consignment and is responsible for restock. If you start consignment in the middle of a quarter, you will be included in the soonest payout, but your consignment will remain active through the following quarter. For example, if you sign up on June 1, you will receive a payout (if applicable) in July, but your consignment will last through the end of September.
3. Consignment payouts will be completed quarterly within the first week of the month following the end of the quarter. Payouts will be done in January, April, July, October beginning in October 2024 (to allow one full quarter from the inception of the program to pass).
4. Once the consignment period ends, the author is responsible for picking up any remaining copies of the book. If the copies are not picked up within 30 days from end of consignment, they will be donated. For nonlocal authors, you can also elect to send us a shipping label

Please note, that we do get a lot of requests to carry independently-published titles, so it could take 3-4 weeks to receive a response. We will get to you as quickly as we can, and please know that we are very excited to work with so many independent authors! A delay in response just means that we are working through a large quantity of requests, and is no reflection on our enthusiasm for your book(s).

We are currently accepting all subgenres of romance, but are especially looking for:
Dark Romance
Romance Fantasy
Sports Romance
LGBTQIA+ Romance
